Medical experts explain that the fog is a symptom of low blood sugar. After consummation of high amounts of sugar, the sugar levels in your blood rise and fall rapidly instead of doing that gradually. It is important to highlight that poor control of blood sugar is a major risk for impairment and cognitive issues.

  1. Nothing is as sweet as it used to be

If you consume high amounts of sugar, the taste bud tolerance of sugar to go up and as a result of that your body needs more and more sugar. Namely, high amounts of sugar bombard the taste buds and when the taste buds need sugar to feel sweet enough, it can be really difficult to lower the base level. However, if you reduce the amount of sugar in the beginning, you can lower the tolerance.

  1. Feet and skin problems

It is scientifically proved that sugar has an inflammatory effect on the organism and it can contribute to inflammatory issues of the skin. Therefore, if you have skin issues such as excessive dryness or oiliness, eczema, rosacea or acne, sugar may be the culprit. In order to solve the skin issues, you need to reduce or cut off the amounts of sugar.

The podiatrist in NYC, Dr. S. Green explains that sugar has inflammatory effect on the feet, as well. Namely, plantar fasciitis causes pain in the tissue’s thick band that runs across the foot’s bottom, the heel and the whole foot, and this condition may be caused by excessive consumption of sugar. In addition to that, high amounts of sugar can cause adrenal fatigue, and this condition is manifested with under-eye dark circles.

  1. Weight gain

Excessive amounts of sugar mean excess of calories, and due to the fact that sweets don’t contain fiber or protein, they will not make you feel full and you continue to eat such products.

In addition to that, sugar triggers the release of insulin, and this hormone has important role in weight gain. Pancreas releases the insulin that is responsible for  distribution of the sugar to the organs in order to be used for energy. When you eat sugar, your organism or more precisely the pancreas produces more insulin and over time, the excessive output leads to insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance is inability of the body to respond to normal insulin amounts properly and as a result of that the organism cannot use the sugar in the proper way.

When the normal insulin response is disrupted, there are too much calories from the sugar and as a result of that, weight gain occurs. It is important to mention that if the pancreas works too hard for a long period of time, diabetes can occur.
